There are many of us who follow people not knowing if what they say is true, but believing them as others are following as well. Case in point is the main stream media. Do you believe everything they say or do you search for yourself to see what they say is true? It’s proven that they don’t have your best interest at heart.
Now lets look at the church. Most have the same message that you are a sinner, but does that really bring life and it more abundantly or does this mentality steal, kill or destroy your relationship with Jesus? John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. Who you follow in your spiritual walk is most important. This will determine your eternal life. I use John 10:10 to determine whom I will follow. There is another verse which I use to determine whom I will follow. It’s Hebrews 13:7 Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.
When we are following Jesus, we are following His faith. Jesus even told those who were following Him that you don’t have to believe what He said, but at least believe the works that He did. John 10:33 The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.” 34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’? 35 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), 36 do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? 37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38 but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.”
You will know those who are following Jesus by their fruits, by the works that is produced. Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. Even the Apostle Paul mentions that he is imitating Christ, are you or the one you are following? 1 Corinthians 11:1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
I really don’t follow anyone and I don’t want anyone following me. Dan Mohler is one I kind of listen to a bit, but I don’t follow everything he does. I follow Jesus Christ. He has taught me so much, more than I could hear in a sermon. If you don’t see the evidence of Jesus in whom you are following or listening to, why listen to them? John 10:15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. 17 “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” 19 Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings. 20 And many of them said, “He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?” 21 Others said, “These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”
I pray that you don’t blindly follow someone who has no faith. There are many who are waking up to this realization that faith without works is dead. I want everyone to realize who Jesus really is in your life and this life in the spirit He has given you glorify Him in all things. Be Blessed friends.
