This is a great question to ask yourself to see if you are of the faith. There are those who confess that they are sinners, sinner saved by grace or have a sin nature and yet they say they are following Jesus. Let me show you that you are not. This might be a hard pill to swallow by it is my mission statement to let you know the truth and the truth, He will set you free.

Those who say they are sinners, sinner saved by grace or have a sin nature are confessing that sin is Lord and not Jesus. Remember what the Bible says about your words, that you will eat the fruit of your lips. This confession that you make is that you are still of these things. Who is the one who has been sinning from the beginning? Satan. And yet you are confessing that he still is part of you and you are still a slave to him. We are to confess that Jesus is Lord. This isn’t just a one time thing. If Jesus is truly Lord of your life, this should always be what comes out of your mouth.

To follow Jesus, we need to look at who He is. Many people don’t realize that Jesus is the High Priest, under the order of Melchizedek. Who is this Melchizedek? Hebrews 7:1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,” without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually. So let’s take a look at this. Melchizedek is the King of Righteousness and King of Peace. So is Jesus King of Righteousness and King of Peace? Let’s take a look at this much further.

Jeremiah mentioned that there is one coming who will be the Lord our righteousness. David even mentioned in the book of Psalms that the Lord’s way is righteousness and to make His way straight. Isaiah prophesied about making the Lord’s way straight and John the baptist proclaimed this. Even Psalm 23 says He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Even Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me John 14:6. So if Jesus is the way, the way continues to point to righteousness. Jesus even told us in Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

As I looked into this further, did you know that the Kingdom of God is Righteousness? Romans 14:17 says for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Hold on! If Jesus is in the order of Melchizedek and He is King of Righteousness and King of Peace and the Kingdom of God is righteousness and peace, there seems to be a connection here. Also I found in Psalm 45:6-7 and Hebrews 1:8-9 says But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

Hold on here! I have been taught that their is no one righteous, not one which is in Romans 3:10. Interesting that when you look at the beginning of that verse it reads, as it is written. So of course I go and look at where it is written. I found it in Psalm 14:1, Psalm 53:1 and Ecclesiastes 7:20 Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins. Now what’s interesting regarding this thought that their is no one righteous not one actually means you aren’t saved. Let me explain this too you. It all begins with Abraham. Abraham believed God and it was counted a righteous and to his seed who is Jesus. So when someone says their is no one righteous not one they are including Jesus in this as he came from the seed of Abraham. Even Jesus called Abel righteous. in Matthew 23:35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. This sinner, sinner saved by grace or sin nature is a very dangerous teaching if you are a born again believer.

So you see, the enemy will always try to get you to look at yourself instead of Jesus. Paul wrote 2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. We need to keep our focus on Him so the poisonous snakes don’t bite us like they did in the wilderness to the people of God. In John 12:32 Jesus said if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself. In the original Greek the word peoples is not there. Look here for yourself. What was Jesus drawing to Himself like the serpent was drawn up in the wilderness? The sin that was killing you. Stop looking at yourself and look unto Jesus who is author and finisher of your faith.

Psalm 85:13 Righteousness will go before Him,
And shall make His footsteps our pathway.
