Jesus has given us every avenue to win this battle that we have with sin. The enemy doesn’t believe that you love God more than yourself and goes around to prove his point to God. The battle with sin has been defeated at the cross. Jesus cursed sin in the flesh, but the enemy has done a good job disproving this. How many people in church do you know still call themselves sinners saved by grace, proving that the enemy is right. These people love themselves more than God. Jesus did say that those who lose their life find it. We must humble ourselves and receive His free gift of righteousness. By doing this we can go around healing all who are oppressed by the devil as God is with us.
Matthew 9:2 And they brought to Him a paralyzed man lying on a stretcher. And seeing their faith, Jesus said to the man who was paralyzed, “Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven.” 3 And some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming!” 4 And Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, said, “Why are you thinking evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—then He *said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, pick up your stretcher and go home.” 7 And he got up and went home. 8 But when the crowds saw this, they were awestruck, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
Galatians 3:11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.” 13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
The armor of God is designed to help us defeat sin. When you are strong on every aspect of the armor, the enemy won’t be able to devour you as a roaring lion. We use the sword of the spirit to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Every tongue that raises up against you in judgment, you shall condemn. This is your heritage from the Lord. The Lord has given us the tools to win, but many don’t understand.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
1 Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 So resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brothers and sisters who are in the world.
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord.
Jesus has overcome the world so do we. It’s our faith that overcomes. This is why our faith is constantly under attack. I hope you understand why Paul told Timothy to fight the good fight of faith. We have already won. The enemy has convinced many that you win when you die. This way you won’t fight him here. The mentality that you are just waiting to go to heaven disarms a Christian and undresses them from their armor. Once saved always saved takes the fight out of a Christian. If you have this line of thinking, then you are defeated, but if you fight the good fight of faith you defeat sin every time.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
1 Timothy 6:11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
