Self control is what we use to control our emotions and actions. This is very vital to have with our walk with the Lord. The enemy will try to use your emotions against you. This is how he fights you. Self control is one of the fruits of the spirit that is rarely talked about. Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Self control is where you find peace. This when the storms that come against you, you don’t react in the similar way as the rest do. This does take practice. I am learning more and more to control my emotions. There has been some events that have happened for me to work on self control. Many of us look at the situation from a perspective of, I will get you back. Or I will get even for what you did to me. This is not a biblical perspective. We must learn to never repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but evil with a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. You may ask yourself, “why do we do that?” The answer is simple. We give people a glimpse of what Heaven is like. Matthew 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
