There are many who don’t even realize that it’s the righteousness of God that saves you. Jesus died on the cross, paid for what you couldn’t to make you right with God. Being a sinner can’t save you, being a sinner saved by grace can’t save you, only the righteousness of God which is in Christ Jesus can.
Jeremiah prophesied long ago that Jesus would become our righteousness. He said this twice. Jeremiah 23:5 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,
“That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness;
A King shall reign and prosper,
And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
6 In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell safely;
Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
The second time Jeremiah spoke about the Lord our righteousness. Jeremiah 33:15 ‘In those days and at that time
I will cause to grow up to David
A Branch of righteousness;
He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
16 In those days Judah will be saved,
And Jerusalem will dwell safely.
And this is the name by which she will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.’
We are the bride of Christ and as such, it is our responsibility to be ready for the coming of our King. First, Jesus gave us the example to follow. He was baptized in water and then in the spirit. He did this to fulfill all righteousness. Matthew 3:13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” 15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” We are to do the same. John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. By doing this we become one with Jesus in the spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
Is this all we have to do, or is there more too this? Yes, the bride much get ready and put on her wedding clothes. Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. The bride groom also loves to cloth His bride as well. Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
11 For as the earth brings forth its bud,
As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,
So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. Romans 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
Be Blessed my friends
