Most Christians know that we are to submit to God and resist the devil and he will flee. We are to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Being strong in the Lord builds our resistance to the devil. He goes around like a roaring lion seeing whom he can devour. The people whom the devil devours are those who are weak in faith and are hoping for a breakthrough, rather than building themselves in the Lord. This is why we put on the armor of God. We are strong in every part of the armor so the devil can’t break through.
James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
1 Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Resisting the devil is easy when you are strong in the Lord. This strength you have teaches you the difference between good and evil. When all you do is repay evil with good, evil won’t visit you anymore. The devil believes everyone loves themselves rather than God. Also, this strength that you have also gives you dominion over sin. By not responding as the world responds to situations, but responding in love, the devil freaks out and would say to you, “What do I have to do with you Jesus of Nazareth, I know who you are the Holy One of God.” Remember it’s no longer you who live, but Christ in you.
1 Peter 3:9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Mark 1:23 Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, 24 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
The devil used three ways against Jesus and he does the same with us. Paul said that he wasn’t unaware of his devices. The three are, the dire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, and the pride of life. The devil used the desire of the eyes against Adam and Eve. Once we understand that we use the armor against the enemy, we will understand how to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. Jesus did this by quoting what Father had said. The enemy will try to use those same words against you to take you captive. Resist him and stay steadfast in the faith. Your faith overcomes the world. Be blessed, my friends.
2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
1 Peter 5:9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
