I don’t know if many of you ever thought of peace as a weapon. Peace is a fruit of the spirit, and we are to use the sword of the spirit against the enemy. What if rest and peace have a bigger impact on the enemy than anything else? If you are angry at someone and all they do is respond in peace, that would drive you crazy. What do you think that does to the enemy? Jesus went around doing good and sowing peace. The enemy sows chaos. He did that with Adam and Eve, and he will do it to you.
Paul and Peter understood that peace is a weapon. Paul said, “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Peter said, “Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.” James understood peace as a weapon. “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” Peace is our connection to Jesus and Father. “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” It’s through that peace we have victory over the enemy. Read the parable of the sower explained (Matthew 13:18-23). The seeds are seeds of peace. You will notice how the enemy and this world try to get you out of peace. The enemy knows, if you live in peace with Christ, he is defeated. Paul wrote these verses to the church in Philippi. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and THE PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, WILL GUARD YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy––meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, THESE DO, AND THE GOD OF PEACE WILL BE WITH YOU.” Almost every epistle is opened by saying grace and peace. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart. “And let THE PEACE OF CHRIST rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”
I pray that your eyes of understanding be enlightened to the peace of Christ. When you live in peace, you’re not easily offended, you are always forgiving, and most importantly, you are one with Christ in the spirit. Peace is a fruit of the spirit. “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” Fear has dominated men since Adam ate of the tree. Now it’s time for peace to reign again. Be blessed, my friends.
