We must look at what God calls evil to understand what is evil. People today have twisted what is good and what is evil as the prophet Isaiah has said, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” This whole good versus evil stems back to when Adam ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. By eating that tree evil entered this world. My Father allows everyone to choose good over evil in every situation, Sin is evil. Let’s look at Cain. He was allowed to do good, but he chose evil. “‘If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.’ Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.” Peter understood that there is a choice to make in every situation. “Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; NOT REPAYING EVIL WITH EVIL OR INSULT WITH INSULT, BUT ON THE CONTRARY BLESSING, KNOWING THAT YOU ARE CALLED TO THIS, THAT YOU MAY INHERIT A BLESSING. For ‘HE WHO WOULD LOVE LIFE LIFE AND SEE GOOD DAYS, LET HIM REFRAIN HIS TONGUE FROM SPEAKING DECEIT. LET HIM TURN AWAY FRO EVIL AND DO GOOD; LET HIM SEEK PEACE AND PURSUE IT.”
The main reason I am writing this blog is to point out something that I have come across. God’s goodness is His glory. “So the LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.” And he said, “PLEASE, SHOW ME YOUR GLORY.” Then He said, “I WILL MAKE ALL MY GOODNESS PASS BEFORE YOU, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” Goodness is a fruit of the spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, GOODNESS, faithfulness, gentleness, self–control. Against such there is no law.” Also goodness is a fruit of light. “for THE FRUIT OF LIGHT is in all GOODNESS, RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND TRUTH.” Also, it’s the goodness of God that leads men to repent. “Or do you despise the riches of HIS GOODNESS, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that THE GOODNESS OF GOD leads you to repentance?” In other words, those who have tasted and seen that the Lord is good to have seen God’s glory. God’s goodness led you to repent, so show others God’s goodness so they can repent. Jesus told His followers, “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” Jesus’s followers understood that by doing this, they were showing God’s glory. Peter told Cornelius and his family the goodness of God, “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, WHO WENT AROUND DOING GOOD and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. “ Jesus was operating in God’s goodness, His Glory. God will give us His glory. “Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “IN TRUTH I PERCEIVE THAT GOD SHOWS NO PARTIALITY. But in every nation whoever FEARS HIM and WORKS RIGHTEOUSNESS is accepted by Him.”
I hope this helps you in your journey with the Lord. “Surely GOODNESS and MERCY shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.” Be blessed, my friends. Remember, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with GOOD.”
