The only way to overcome evil is with good. Adam partaking of the tree, when he was told not to, was evil, sin is evil. Since Adam, men only knew how to do evil and not good. Those who are listed in Hebrews 11 all demonstrated what good is like. All were engaged with the spirit of God which is good. Jesus did say, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.” Those who are of the spirit do good and those who are not, do evil. You will know them by their fruit.
Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be fleshly minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the flesh mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Followers of Jesus know goodness is a fruit of the spirit. Doing good is operating in the spirit. Also, it’s the goodness of God that leads men to repent. If no one is doing good, how would they know God is good? Paul explained this in Romans 3:9-20. No one knows the ways of peace which are the ways of the spirit. Most Christians today defend sin/evil rather than the righteousness of God which is our way in the spirit through Jesus. If we continue to be like Jesus, we would go around doing good and healing all who are oppressed by the devil for God is with us. “God is with us?” Sounds like Caleb and Joshua want to take the promised land.
Numbers 14:24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.
I hope that you grow in doing good and showing God’s love for people. Loving your neighbor as yourself is showing mercy to them as you were shown mercy. Be blessed, my friends.
Luke 10:36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” 37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
