The primary purpose for Christians to gather is to share love and good works. It’s not to go and hear a message or have a social gathering. Instead, we share what Jesus is doing in our lives to encourage others to live a life of righteousness. I believe that the church has moved away from its purpose, glorifying Jesus in everything. The great commission is not to go into every church or synagogue and preach the gospel, but to go into all the world. We need to get to the purpose of why the church (she) was created. To reveal that Jesus is still alive through love and good works.
Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Matthew 16:15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
We have been saved to do greater works than Jesus. It’s not by works you have been saved, but the greater works have been saved for you to do through Christ. These works are done by you, but Christ in you so that He may be glorified. This is the great mystery that has been hidden from the foundation of the world. Unfortunately, this mystery is still hidden from churchgoers.
John 14:11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. 12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Colossians 1:27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
The commandment for Christians is love. Love God, love people. People of the world will know that you are Christians by your love. Love does not mean tolerance. You can’t tolerate what displeases God, but in the spirit of gentleness, we can correct those who choose to live a life of love and good works, a life of righteousness. Be blessed, my friends.
1 Timothy 1:5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,
2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
