Doing what is good and doing what is right is the foundation of the Christian faith. It’s not. I repeat it’s not what is good and what is right in men’s eyes, but rather in God’s eyes. Christians are to walk in this path of righteousness for His Name’s sake, not ours. Jesus, whom we are to follow, went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil for God was with Him. Is God not with you as well?
2 Peter 2:21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.
Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
If we are to walk as Jesus walked here on earth, we need to understand on the earth as it is in heaven. Many seem to forget that God’s throne is built on righteousness. Also, His Kingdom is built on righteousness as well. So if we are to walk on earth as it is in heaven, it’s only feasible to assume that if the Kingdom is righteousness, Jesus is the King of righteousness, that we should also walk and live in righteousness. Doing what is good and right in His sight.
Psalms 45:6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.
Romans 5:17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy 6:18 And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord, that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land of which the Lord swore to your fathers,
Doing what is good and right in God’s eyes is the opposite of what this world teaches. Interestingly enough, good is the other half of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Peter tells us not to repay evil with evil or insult with insult. Instead, evil with a blessing. Jesus taught us to bless those who persecute us. This is a form of love that is foolish to men. They can’t understand it. This way, people will know that you are Christian by your love. Love is not agreement with men, but with God. Doing what is good and right. Be blessed, my friends.
1 Peter 3:9 not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you would inherit a blessing.
Matthew 5:43 You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
