Many Christians know about the armor of God. Did you know that you have to be strong in the Lord to put Him on? Yes, I said put Him on. “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” Our strength doesn’t come from the flesh, but rather the spirit. Look at Caleb, “But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.” Once you have the understanding you are one with the Lord in the spirit, then you will know that’s where your strength lies. “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.”
Jesus understood that strength lies in the spirit. “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” To have strength in the spirit, you must be the firstborn of the spirit. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” If you have been born of the spirit, you must grow in the spirit. “And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he does not know how. For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.” The seed is the spirit and it grows until harvest time. Jesus was born of the spirit when Father baptized Him. “When He HAD been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” The most memorable moment for me of Jesus growing in the spirit is with His cousin John. John’s head had been chopped off by Herod. How would you react to your cousin’s head chopped off? Right after that He went and prayed. After praying, He feed 5000 men and walked on water. He stayed in the spirit. This story is in Matthew 14:6-36.
Let your strength be in Jesus. He is “The author and finisher of our faith.” Don’t forget to put Him on. “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” Once you have put Him on, walk in Him. “As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, SO WALK IN HIM, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” “I say then: WALK IN THE SPIRIT, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” “LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU WHICH WAS ALSO IN CHRIST JESUS, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Be blessed, my friends
