When I heard in the Spirit that Being Still is Old Covenant I had to go and look that up. You know, He was right. There is no where in the New Covenant that talks about Being Still. Let me rephrase that. There is one time that Jesus does say Be Still but He was talking to a storm.

I’m not advocating that if this is what you like to do, to change what is written in the Old Covenant. But what I am saying is there is a different type of Being Still that’s in the New Covenant. Let’s look at he Old Covenant first. This Being Still was you be still and watch God work for you. Here is an example of this Exodus 14:13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” You are to be still and watch God do the work for you. Many Christians still believe that this is how we are to live today. When things get rough and we are just to be still and watch God work for you. God gets the Glory in this. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! 11 The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Now let’s look at the New Covenant. In the New Covenant this being still is all about peace. This Peace is a gift from Jesus. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. This Peace is a calming of your mind. This place where you calm your mind is in the Spirit. This is where God works through you. In the Old Covenant, He works for you. New Covenant, He works through you. 2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified. So Jesus is in you and He works through you? Romans 11:36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen. The enemy uses circumstances of family, riches and others things to stop you from living in the Spirit. Jesus explains this in the parable of the sower. Matthew 13:22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. The word is Spirit and it is life.

So Being Still in Old Covenant is watching God work for you. In the New Covenant is be at peace and watch God work through you. Jesus is our great example if we are following His example. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
