The Apostle John spoke most regarding abiding. He mentions abide ten times in John 15 and 1 John 2. 1 John 3 and 4, he mentions abide five times. What does abide mean? Abide is a verb, it’s an action. Abide means to put with, tolerate: synonym: endure. Abide also means to wait patiently for and to remain in a place. “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood ABIDES IN ME, AND I IN HIM. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.” John knew about being in Jesus, a place of peace. David talked about this place as well. “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall ABIDE under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Jesus is inviting us into a relationship with Him and Father. The helper, the Holy Spirit, is here to help you be guided into this relationship if you want it. There is no love if you are being forced, that’s why this is a love relationship. “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” Let’s look at John 15 when Jesus talked about abiding. “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. EVERY BRANCH IN ME that does not bear fruit He takes away; and EVERY BRANCH that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. YOU ARE ALREADY CLEAN BECAUSE OF THE WORD WHICH I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU. ABIDE IN ME, AND I IN YOU. As THE BRANCH CANNOT BEAR FRUIT OF ITSELF, UNLESS IT ABIDES IN THE VINE, neither can you, UNLESS YOU ABIDE IN ME. I AM THE VINE, YOU ARE THE BRANCHES. HE WHO ABIDES IN ME, AND I IN HIM, BEARS MUCH FRUIT; FOR WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING. If ANYONE DOES NOT ABIDE IN ME, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If YOU ABIDE IN ME, and MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, YOU WILL ASK WHAT YOU DESIRE, AND IT SHALL BE DONE FOR YOU. By THIS MY FATHER IS GLORIFIED, that YOU BEAR MUCH FRUIT; so YOU WILL BE MY DISCIPLES. As THE FATHER LOVED ME, I ALSO HAVE LOVE YOU ABIDE IN MY LOVE. If YOU KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, YOU WILL ABIDE IN MY LOVE, just as I HAVE KEPT MY FATHER’S COMMANDMENTS AND ABIDE IN HIS LOVE. These things I have spoken to you, that MY JOY MAY REMAIN IN YOU, and that YOUR JOY MAY BE FULL.” John knew that abiding was the way.

I pray that your eyes be enlightened by this. I hope you rejoice while abiding in His love. Be blessed, my friends.
