This Psalm has been recited at so many funerals but when I show you what the Lord showed me, you just might think twice about that. This all started when He spoke adorably regarding this Psalm. I wasn’t thinking about this Psalm or even reading it at that time. He said to me, ” you know that all of life’s answers are in Psalm 23.” I was shocked so I had to look at this from a different perspective

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Jesus is our Good Sheppard. There is nothing that you should want other than him. If there is anything you want more than him, I declare to you that this is an idol. If the first commandment is (Mark 12:29 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment) Love God, anything you put before Him is an idol. You are too Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Psalm 23:2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. Do you notice that this is a place of peace and a place of rest? Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. If you are a sheep of Jesus’ pasture then you will live in a place of peace.

Psalm 23:3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Now when it comes to your soul, Jesus wants your soul to prosper. 3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. Jesus wants to lead you on the path of righteousness for His Name sake but the church leads down the path of sin. Sin is the path of least resistance. If you are following Jesus, then you are following righteousness as Jesus is the King of Righteousness.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Interesting that people seem to think that valley of the shadow of death is after we pass away from this world but it’s not. If you are still in sin, you are walking through the valley of the shadow of death as sin is death. You will not fear evil as perfect Love casts out fear, fear is torment. Nothing can separate you from the Love of God.

Psalm 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. The table in which Jesus has prepared for you has the bread of life on it which is Holy. If you are following Jesus, then His mission statement is your mission statement. Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound.

Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. Did you know that Goodness is a fruit of the Spirit? Did you know that Jesus is asking you to know what this means? “I desire mercy not sacrifice.” So if goodness and mercy are to follow you all the days of your life, when does your life start? Does your life start after you pass away or does it start when you have been baptized in the spirit?

He blessed me by telling me that all of life’s answers are in Psalm 23 and i hope this blesses you. The enemy would love for you to believe that life starts after you pass away so you don’t fight him but when you know the truth, it’s the truth that sets you free.
