As I was reading Matthew 5, the Lord highlighted to me something that was not on the list. Let’s first look what is on this list. Matthew 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
As I was read this, the Lord spoke to me and said, “Do you notice that sin is not on this list , but righteousness is?” At that moment my heart broke. How many people who go to church actually believe that they are still a sinner, not forgiven of their sins, and missing out walking in Jesus’ righteousness. I am so saddened that they are missing out on the good tidings of great joy. Life in Jesus is the most amazing place to live.. It’s no longer about me as I have died and now I live for Christ. If people can’t see Jesus in your life, then who are you following? That statement is NOT to condemn you, but to tell you that you can grow up into Him. I don’t know if people truly know what the gospel really is. 1 Thessalonians 1:5 For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.
