Have you ever heard, Righteousness the plumb line? I haven’t until I came across this in Isaiah 28. This should have a great impact in our walk with the Lord as a plumb line is used in construction to keep everything straight. Jesus does talk about how our house’s are built as well as how important the foundation of the in which your house is built upon.

The foundation of a house is the most important part of the house. If your house is built on swamp or sand, it will not be able to stand. This is why Jesus is the rock in which our house is built on. This stone is so strong that nothing can move it. This is the confidence to which your faith is built on.

The plumb line, being straight, is how to live your life. The prophet John proclaimed this in the wilderness Matthew 3:1 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight.’ ” The Book of Proverbs talks also about making your paths straight as well. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

When you walk in the straight path, Father illuminates your path with His light. Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. That path that we to walk is Righteousness. Psalm 23:3 He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Isaiah prophesied regarding this sure foundation and righteous plumb line. Isaiah 28:16 therefore thus says the Lord God,
“Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion,
    a stone, a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation:
    ‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’
17 And I will make justice the line,
    and righteousness the plumb line;
and hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
    and waters will overwhelm the shelter.”

There are many who will try to seer you off this path. There is the easy path which is sin and leads to destruction. The hard path is Righteousness which leads to life. Matthew 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
