You are captain of your ship. When you think of a ship, you look at the picture that I used for this blog, it’s big, it’s beautiful and it’s calming when you are out on the sea or lake. What happens to the ship when a storm hits? It gets tossed around, it’s uncomfortable to be on the ship as you don’t know what’s going to happen.

Now what happens when you are the ship in this world? Your mouth is the rudder of the ship. This rudder guides you through the waters of your life. What happens to you when the storms of life comes against you? Is your ship or your house, which is you, built to withstand the violence that this world can throw at you? Has your ship built to withstand anything? Does it have any holes which can sink your ship? Did you build the ship or did someone build it for you? Who did you listen to, that would make what you build such a strong ship? I ask all these questions to try to get you to think if you are ready to withstand what life throws at you.

How you respond to all the situations is how your ship will endure. Let’s look at the disciples. When they where on a boat to go to the other side, a storm came upon them and they thought they where going to die. Is this how you would respond? Jesus is with them and He is asleep on the boat. They wake Him up and from their feelings, asked if He cares that they are going to die. I love Jesus’ response. O you of little faith! Matthew 8:23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” 26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

Your faith is always being tested in the storm to see if you believe God or not. James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patienceBut let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. The more you react like Jesus, the more your faith grows. Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written: “ But the righteous one will live by faith.” Are you still a sinner or a righteous one in Christ? 2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
