I want to share with you what the Lord had shared with me. I came across the verse Jesus used to answer the lawyer when he asked which is the greatest commandment of all? Many don’t realize that Jesus answered using Deuteronomy. Jesus quoted Deuteronomy a lot. Every answer He gave satan in the temptation in the wilderness, He responded quoting Deuteronomy.

Temptation #1 – Matthew 4:3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread. Deuteronomy 8:3 So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

Temptation #2 – Matthew 4:5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” Deuteronomy 6:16 You shall not tempt the Lord your God as you tempted Him in Massah.

Temptation #3 – Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Deuteronomy 6:13 13 You shall fear only the Lord your God; and you shall worship Him and swear by His name. Deuteronomy 10:20 You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him, and to Him you shall hold fast, and take oaths in His name.

Now lets look at how Jesus answered the lawyer his question. Mark 12: 28 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, “Which is the first commandment of all?” Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

You many ask yourself, what does this have to do with 1 Timothy 1:5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith? Well let’s take a look at how Jesus answered the lawyer and how this ties to 1 Timothy 1:5. You shall love the Lord your God, (The purpose of the commandment is love), with all your heart (from a pure heart), with all your soul (from a good conscience), and with all your strength (sincere faith). This has really effected how I walk with the Lord. If anyone who calls themselves a Christian and tells you, you are a sinner, even though you are born again in water and spirit, and turned away from sin, that person is cursing you. Jesus cursed sin in the flesh. Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

You may ask, how do i respond to this person? This is what you are to do!

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
YOU SHALL CONDEMN.

This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And THEIR RIGHTEOUSNESS IS FROM ME,”
Says the Lord.

Be Blessed my friends
