As I wanted to write about something else again, the Lord wanted me to write about our war isn’t against flesh and blood. He told me this on Sunday. As I was setting up this blog, I realized that Wednesday is remembrance day. I want to thank all those who service in our military. Thank you.
When you look at this war that we are in, it’s not about bullets, tanks, ship and planes. This war that we are in is a war of words. You can see this play out everywhere. Words can have blessings and curses as well. These words can be even be words you think they are from you but are interjected by a spirit. This is why Paul said 2 Corinthians 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
The words people use against you can have a big impact on your life if you let it. Let’s look at my situation right now. My wife and I have been separated for about six years now. I have had family and friends tell me to move on. Now I can live by sight and by my flesh but I chose not too. The Lord spoke to me just when my wife and I were separating, He said that her and I would be back together and it will be better than before. I wasn’t even thinking this, I heard this. Then He gave me a vision of her place about a year before she bought it and I saw the Spirit coming out of me and go into her. I saw the demons leave. I will NEVER forget the words that she said at that moment, “I am glad you never gave up on me.” There was another time when He said, “I am preparing your heart, there is a man with your wife,” and there was. The spirit of jealousy couldn’t jump on me. I don’t live by site or by what I feel, I live by faith. That shield of faith quenches all of the fiery darts (words) of the enemy. So do you live what God says or by what man says?
The enemies goal is to utterly destroy you. The only way he can do this is of the flesh.. Did you notice that when satan came against Adam and Eve and Jesus, he did this of the flesh and not the spirit? He used food against Adam and Eve. He did the same with Jesus as well as money, and testing God. When you see this, do you now understand that our war isn’t against flesh and blood? You might think that satan is against you but he is not. He is against the Kingdom of God which resides in you. Jesus proved this with Saul (Paul). Jesus makes this amazing statement. Acts 9:4 “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” How was Saul persecuting Jesus? Acts 9:1 Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. So you see that this is a war isn’t against you but the Kingdom of God.
As we have been looking at this war of words, we begin to understand what our shield of faith does. Ephesians 6:16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Our faith is in Jesus who is the Word of God. We believe everything He has said. The enemy is here to quench your faith. Have you noticed that satan would say things like “did God really say,” or “if you are the Son of God.” This is what he does, questions God. We fight back by using the Word of God like Jesus did. Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” This is written in Deuteronomy 8:3. Matthew 4:7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ” This is written in Deuteronomy 6:13. Matthew 4:10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” This is written in Deuteronomy 6:16. Now you may understand how we fight this war using the Word of God. Ephesians 6:17 the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
One word that I HATE that the church teaches is that we are sinners. You understand that sin is a curse right? Jesus became a curse for us, Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”) 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Sin separated Adam and Eve from God so when you proclaim that you are a sinner, you are saying you are separate from God.
