I just love how the Lord operates. Jesus is our GREAT example of how life is lived here on earth. We are to follow His example. Let’s look at this life of Jesus and how He got to walk in the fullness of the Spirit.
This started when Jesus came to the Jordan to see John. John was baptizing and Jesus came to him to be baptized. Matthew 3:14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” 15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. So the first step to walk in the fullness of the Spirit is to be baptized, repenting for your sins. Once you repent, God remembers your sins no more. Hebrews 10:16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” 17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
The next step is to be baptized in the Spirit. The only way to be baptized in the Spirit is from the Spirit. Jesus was baptized in the Spirit by Father. Matthew 3:16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Many people thinks this is one baptism but John did say Mark 1:7 “There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. 8 I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
Those two steps seemed to be connected in different places in the Bible. Romans 14:17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness (Born of water is to fulfill all righteousness) and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (baptized in the Spirit is in the Holy Spirit). To be born of Water and Spirit, you now enter into the Kingdom of God. Jesus said this, John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Once you have completed the first two steps, you will be led into the wilderness. Matthew 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Jesus told us to pray against every temptation of the devil. Matthew 6:13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. This is where you grow in Jesus is in the wilderness. This is where I am right now. Satan will use everything he can to try to trip you up. Paul said 2 Corinthians 2:11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices. You may ask, what devices does he use? He can only use the things of this world against you. John tells us his devices 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. These three are the very things that satan used against Jesus and he uses against you. Always remember this, use this as a measuring stick to understand where everything come from, John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Being in the wilderness can be painful but we are to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Once trained, you walk in the fullness of the Spirit just as Jesus did. Fullness is power. This power isn’t yours, it’s the power of the Holy Spirit. You have denied yourself, picked up your cross (dead to sin) and follow Jesus (King of Righteousness). The Lord showed me this and wants all His people to get the understanding. The more people know the truth, the more victory we will have in the Name of Jesus. Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. 1 John 4:17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
The other thing the Lord has taught me while being in the wilderness is that this is a place where you build strength in the Spirit. Many people wonder why is this happening to me instead of fighting through what has happened. The wilderness helps you build yourself up in the Spirit while killing your flesh. I wouldn’t trade my time in the wilderness for anything. It’s a great time to build relationship.
