There are some religious people out there that would get easily offended when you tell them that, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” These people have been programed that no one is righteous, not one, quoting only part of a verse. That particular verse starts with, “As it is written.” Many won’t even look to see where it is written. I want to look at this for you and show you what The Word (Jesus) has to say about this.
The answer to what we are talking about here starts in 2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. When I made the statement, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” it’s not my righteousness that I am talking about. I believe that what Jesus did was enough to cleanse me of all sin. His blood was enough. He is the perfect sacrifice to pay for what Adam did. The devil doesn’t want you to believe that. He wants to convince you that as long as you are in the flesh, you are a sinner. This reminds me of an elephant who has been chained up for years. once the chain is broken, he is free, but can’t see that the chain is broken.
This righteousness of God is done by faith. Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” Interesting that there is a whole chapter in the Bible, Hebrews 11, known as the faith chapter, yet there is no one righteous, not one. When you confess you are not righteous, you are confessing that you have no faith. Born again sinners are still alive to sin and yet dead to God. As it is written. “Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:11. I would not want to be these people, as they are in the devil’s camp, sinner (cold towards God), and in God’s camp, saved by grace (hot towards God). This is the Lukewarm Church.
Do you believe that the blood of Jesus was enough to cleanse you of ALL your sins? If you believe that, why then do so-called Christians confess that they are sinners? Do you know what the prerequisite is to follow Jesus? Let Jesus tell you Himself. Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. What confuses me is that if you are confessing that you are a sinner, it’s still about you. How are you denying yourself? The focus is still about you. When you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, it isn’t about you as you have denied yourself. He paid for what you couldn.t so now you follow Him. This is how you deny yourself and you do this by faith, “As the righteous shall live by faith.“
Philippians 3:8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
