When Jesus said to follow Him, He wasn’t just referring to what He said, but also to what He was doing. He went around doing good healing all who were oppressed by the devil for God is with Him. Now God is with you if you would only believe.
Faith without works is dead. Many will argue that you have been saved by faith and don’t have to do any work. That is half true. Paul best explained it this way. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” We were created in Christ for good works. Peter preached regarding Jesus’s good works to the gentiles. “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Now you have that same anointing in you to do what He did. “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Mark wrote about this in his gospel. “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Jesus taught His followers to preach the kingdom of heaven as He did. “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” Those who choose to live by faith do the greater works. It’s the goodness of God that lead you to repent. Do you live by that goodness so others can come to the Lord? Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever–– the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”
I hope that you find this narrow way, a new and living way. Be blessed, my friends.
