This aspect of being “in Him” is a very important for every person who follows Jesus. Jesus refereed to Himself being in Father when Philip questioned Jesus to show us the Father. John 14:8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?.
To be in Jesus, when you have arrived at the door, you must first knock on the door as Jesus is the door of the sheep. John 10:7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.” Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” John 10:9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. Jesus is the only way into Heaven. He is that door in which we all must go through to enter. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Now to be in Him you must repent of your sins and turn away from it. Those who confess that they are still sinners, sinner saved by Grace or have a sin nature can’t be in Him. He paid for your sins at the cross and yet you are still holding on to something that doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to Him. He paid for it, if you have already asked Him to forgive you. This is why Paul was telling the church in Corinth to be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Jesus Prays for All Believers
Jesus prayed to Father for us that we may be in Him as well as in the Father. John 17:20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. There is a place for you in Him. You must have the understanding of who you are in Him. This is done by faith.
Our life is in Him as John wrote John 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. Paul also told the church in Colosse Colossians 1:17 that He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. So everything that is needed for your walk in Jesus is in Him.
Put on Christ
To be in Him, you must put Him on as it is written Romans 13:11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. When you have put Jesus on then you can let your light shine before men.
There is another place written in scriptures where you put on Christ but it’s referred in another term. Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth (Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life), having put on the breastplate of righteousness (we are the righteousness of God in Jesus, so wear Him as a breastplate), 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace (Jesus has made peace between man and God) ; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. (Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith) 17 And take the helmet of salvation (our salvation is in Jesus) , and the sword of the Spirit (Jesus said My word are Spirit and they are life), which is the word of God;
There is one thing that the Lord shared with me that I want to share with you. If you continuously say that you are a sinner, sinner saved by Grace or have a sin nature, you can’t put on the breastplate of righteousness. This is how the enemy is undressing you. You have to be strong in every part of the armor. This is why Paul wrote “Be strong in the Lord and the power of His Might.” Your faith in every part of the armor grows, you grow in Him. Once this is all accomplished, He can now work through you as you are in Him. For it is written Romans 11:36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
