When you hear this statement “in all your getting, get understanding,” what does that mean to you? Is it really all about trying to understand the Bible as this is a quote from there. Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. This might be what you have been taught, but I assure you, it’s not. You have to remember that when this was written, it was written in a time when there was no Bible.
Many people don’t realize that understanding is a spirit. Understanding is one of the 7 spirits of God listed in Isaiah 11. Isaiah 11:1 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. 2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. The principle thing that the Spirit of Understanding is here to teach you is the difference between good and evil. That is why it is written Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.
Knowing the difference between good and evil is a key to this walk with the Lord. Many accept what is evil as good. The biggest one that the enemy uses against you is sexuality. Satan knows that there is a Great Spiritual root in this. When a couple gets married, they are one. When one breaks that covenant, you aren’t sinning against your spouse but against God. That trust is broken not only with your spouse but with God also. 1 Corinthians 6: 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Today, many in the church are being taught that they are fleshly (carnal) beings. These are those who can’t see past the flesh as that is all they know. They haven’t got the understanding that they are Spiritual beings first. When you die, do really think that you died or is it just the flesh that dies? All this evil that comes against you, is this against your flesh or Spirit? How can Paul, after casting out the spirit of divination out of a woman gets accused of this good act. Paul gets beaten because of this. thrown in prison, and all he can do is sing to the Lord? Do you understand? Jesus and Paul went around doing good. Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
My question to you is, what are you being taught. 1 Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? Hebrews 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Peter understand the difference between good and evil and explained it best this way. 1 Peter 3:9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
These are the life verse that the Lord gave me so i will share with you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies. 21 Test all things; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil. 23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
