As I was meditating on this, the Lord showed me that without faith it is impossible to please Him. So my goal is to please Him and live by faith. I am not here to get my way or do the things i want to do but to please the one who enlisted me as a good soldier.
Let’s look at where faith comes from. Faith comes from hearing, hearing the Word of God. So faith isn’t doing the Word but hearing. If you are hearing the Word, who is speaking the Word that you are hearing? Did you know that satan speaks the Word of God? He spoke Psalm 91 to Jesus. Now there are those who say you must obey His Word. Jesus didn’t obey the Word as it was a different voice (satan’s) who was speaking the Word. It’s important to know who is speaking the Word and not just hearing it. Angels don’t just act on His Word but who is speaking His Word. Psalm 103:20 Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. When angel heed His voice, they do His Word. Likewise you, who know the voice of Jesus, obey His Voice. John 10:3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.
When you look at faith is of the Spirit, it’s written in 1 Corinthians 12. 1 Corinthians 12:7Â But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit (for all isn’t in the original text). 9Â to another faith by the same Spirit. To walk in faith is to walk in the Spirit. That’s why when you say to a mountain (demons) go and it goes nothing will be impossible for you. Do you really think you can move a mountain in the flesh? That’s impossible but from the Spirit, all things are possible. Do you now understand why Jesus died? That you no longer live from the flesh but walk in the Spirit. You are to be born again in the Spirit and it’s Jesus who baptizes you in the Spirit.
There is another thing that i find fascinating. Those who confess that they are sinners saved by grace and yet they say they have faith. Their faith is in that they are still sinners and have yet not turned away from sin and follow Jesus. Their faith is of the flesh and not the Spirit as the righteous shall live by faith.
As you are listening to the Word of God, listen to who is speaking. Even Philip who walked with Jesus wasn’t listening. I use this measuring stick on how I listen. If it is steal, kill and destroy, (your faith) it’s not from God. As it is written to the seven churches in the Book of Revelation, He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Who are you listening too?
