Can you forgive someone who has done something to you even when you haven’t done anything to deserve what they did to you? This will so come against your flesh. Your flesh will scream to do something back.
My favorite verses when it comes to this type of persecution is Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5:11-12. It’s all about the perspective on how you see things. When you have the understanding that when such comes against you, you are to rejoice. The disciples understood this. So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. Acts 5:41. not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you would inherit a blessing 1 Peter 3:9.
When you live forgiveness, anything that comes against you actually grows you up in the Lord. Many don’t see this that way. When you react and act the same way as everyone else, you then are like them. But if you react differently than everyone else, this surprises them and wonder what is going on. In my situation, many wonder why I still act the way i do. I have learned that my circumstances don’t determine how i feel, Jesus does! For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7. Everything that comes against you tests your faith. Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us Romans 5:1-5.
If you can’t forgive, how do you expect Father to forgive you? So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city. 2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” 3 And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!” 4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 7 And he arose and departed to his house. 8 Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men. Matthew 9:1-8. Do you see how powerful forgiveness is!
