What You Focus On Is What You Become

In my previous blog, I discussed that Jesus is the Word of God and not the bible. We don’t ask God for things because of what the bible tells us, but Jesus tells us to ask in His Name. Therefore Jesus gets the glory when this comes to pass, not the bible. The bible is a group of scriptures that lead us to Jesus.

John 5:37 And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38 But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

Let us not make the bible an idol, making it more prominent than Jesus. I have heard it said that some churches teach the bible rather than Jesus. They proclaim Jesus, but deny His power.

2 Timothy 3:1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholyunlovingunforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of goodtraitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of Godhaving a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away

1 Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.

When we are looking through the scriptures, you will find whatever you focus on. If you want to stay a sinner, you will find the scriptures that back that up. You can stay a a natural man if you wish. My Father has given everyone free will to choose. If you want to be the righteousness of God, you will find those scriptures as well. This is the spirit-filled man. Remember, whatever you focus on, you give yourself too. And whatever you give yourself too, you will eventually have to answer for.

Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

Many don’t realize this, but Jesus established the church in the spirit. It was never intended to have these elaborate building like in the old testament. Back in the early church, they met wherever they could. They met to share love and good works. They were doing the works of Jesus to glorify His name.

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit14 For in fact the body is not one member but many.

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

In Acts 10 where the above scripture comes from, this is where Peter was preaching Jesus to Cornelius and his family and the Holy Spirit fell on all who were listening. Interesting isn’t it. Peter was preaching Jesus and not the bible.
